In the early 1980s, Tetsuya Komuro and Naoto Kine took a road trip to Kyoto to attend Fleetwood Mac live concert. In fact, Komuro-san has long been a fan of Stevie Nicks. Back then, seating rules were much more relaxed, allowing audiences to move around freely. Komuro-san made his way right to the front of the hall, pacing from left to right to follow Stevie’s every move on stage.
Later in the episode, Kine-san introduced Bob Welch’s 1977 hit “Ebony Eyes.” Welch was also a former member of Fleetwood Mac, and Stevie Nicks actually lent her vocals to this track as a backing chorus.
They also talked about the songwriting. TMNETWORK emphasized that the “riff” – a short, repeating musical pattern – is the most important element in creating a song. They cited TM NETWORK’s tracks “Self Control” and “Rainbow Rainbow” as examples of this philosophy.
During the episode, Komuro-san expressed his deep admiration for legendary music producer Todd Rundgren, hinting that he might dedicate a future episode of Sukeru Radio to Todd’s work.
